George W. Thacker, III
George joined CSG Partners in 2008, and he works in the firm's ESOP practice group. His ESOP transactions have received the "2013 M&A Deal of the Year ($200MM-$500MM category)" by the ACG New York, and the 2011 and 2010 "Acquisition Financing Deal of the Year Award" from The M&A Advisor. He was also named a finalist for the 2013 "Dealmaker of the Year" by the ACG New York, for his work in completing $700MM in ESOP transactions in a twelve month period.
Prior to joining CSG in 2008, George was a Vice-President at Hilliard Lyons Asset Management, the asset management division of Hilliard Lyons which managed $4 Billion for institutions and high-net-worth families. He worked with numerous business owners on using ESOPs and other liquidity strategies.
Prior to Hilliard Lyons, he was an attorney with Brown Todd & Heyburn (now Frost Brown Todd), where he focused his practice on mergers and acquisitions, tax, and estate planning for middle-market business owners.
George received his B.S. degree, magna cum laude, from Vanderbilt University. He received his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law, where he was a member of the law review and a recipient of the Brandeis Award (for top four graduates). He is a frequent writer and lecturer on ESOPs and business succession strategies.
